Natural Hair Expo?

Came across this e-flyer the other day...have y'all ever been to a hair expo? (And are any of y'all DC curlies going to go to this?)  Truth be told, it sort of stresses me out just thinking about going to something like this (I'm a Southern girl at heart-- crowded places where people are trying to sell me things just sort of make my little heart flutter).

What say y'all?

  1. I never went to one but I'd like to. I may go to this if I have to time as I have people in MD. Thanks for sharing.

  3. I went to one last month, and It was wonderful. Yes there are companies trying selling their products, but you can find a lot of those products that may be harder to find or might only be available online. In addition there are shows and exhibits, as well as forums that allow open disussion regarding the impact of natural hair.

  4. I have been to a natural hair event here in North Carolina. It was actually back in 2011 and I loved it. It was only the second year they had an event like that here but it was great. They had hair shows, product demonstrations, products to buy, etc. My mother and I greatly enjoyed it. It wasn't very crowded, but keep in mind this was only the second year and it was in a smaller city than DC. I feel that there are so many naturals in DC that there could be a crowd. Who knows though? I would go to just check it out because $10 isn't bad at all.

  5. Hey :o) I am actually a coordinator for this event :o) We are expecting about 500 people throughout the day - the community center we have booked is pretty large to accommodate everyone.

Aside from vendors - there will be teaching sessions on hair care and fitness, and hair and fashion shows (all included in the price of the ticket).

During previous expos - people showed up throughout the day - early morning (and it's good to come early to ensure getting a goody bag) and afternoon were the lightest crowds.

If you decide to come - stop by my table (not trying to sell you anything - lol) but just to say hi
